Abdul Rashid Salman Khan was born to screen writer Salim Khan (who penned many super-hits in the yesteryear's like Sholay, Deewar, and Don) and Salma Khan on December 27 1965. Salim khan had a second marriage with Helen, the legendary cabaret dancer of Bollywood in 60's. As the eldest child of the two, Salman Khan witnessed the depression of his mother's agony and went through a series of challenges. Time healed the wounds since Helen is accepted as just another family member today. Other than acting Salman owns another talented feather on his cap. He is a gifted painter. He inherited this talent from his mother Salma.Although he owed it from his childhood he never paid much interest until recently when he started taking lessons in painting techniques. He has a dozen of images, which pictures still life, animals, people and human face, but his first painting was of his dogs. Most of his drawings decorate his apartment and his father's house today. (Another Bollywood star known for her painting talents is Sushmita Sen.)
