Riya Sen born on January 24th, 1981 in Kolkata is a renowned Indian actress and model. She is daughter of Moon Moon Sen and the grand daughter of Suchitra Sen, both ex-Bollywood actresses. Her father, Bharat Dev Varma hails from a royal family of Tripura. Her sister Raima Sen is also a film actress. A drop out from Rani Birla College, Riya also failed to continue her studies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Since her heart lay in Bollywood Riya Sen shifted to Mumbai in the fond hope of becoming numero uno in Bollywood. Raveena got her name from a combination of her father's name Ravi and mother's name Veena.
Her first film Patthar ke phool (1991) was a flop, however she received the Filmfare Lux New Face Award. Her career was saved by the hit comedy Andaz Apna Apna. She made headlines with her fight with Karisma Kapoor, the other leading lady in the film. Her next film Mohra made her a superstar overnight. The hit song Tu cheez badi hai mast mast, had signified that Raveena was here to stay. Her on screen chemistry with Akshay Kumar was to turn into an off screen romance. Rani Mukherjee has more filmi relations than you can count on your fingertips. She's the daughter of Ram Mukherjee, who directed films like 'Leader' and 'Hum Hindustani'. Her mother used to be a playback singer. Her aunt, Debashree Roy, is a well-known Bengali actress. And of course, her most famous star connection is cousin Kajol. In the early days, while Rani was struggling to build a career in films, it was this 'Kajol's cousin' tag that stuck to her for the longest time. It couldn't have been a happy feeling, especially considering the fact that her famous sister was then the hottest selling actress on the scene. And Rani was largely viewed as an upstart (by the film press) trying to do a 'me too'.
